Survival Kits Save Lives In Natural Disasters

In recent years, there has been a trend of massive storms and other natural disasters taking place more frequently around the world. It could be a hurricane, flood, or earthquake, but just about all of them end up causing a lot of death and destruction. Though there are many things that are simply beyond our control, we always do have the option of taking steps to prepare ourselves if these or any other type of emergency happens. These days, people are beginning to prepare for their survival by either making, or else purchasing, emergency and disaster survival kits.

When thinking about what should go into an emergency 3 day kit, you basically have to think of what things you would absolutely need to have to survive a major event caused by either nature or man. Because water and food are two of the primary things we need to live, we must always make sure we have plenty of water and some sort of sustenance. The general rule is to have enough to last for three days, but you could very well get much more if you are capable of doing so. Still, the portability of your survival kit should always be an issue, as it is very possible you could be walking for many miles to get to safety or shelter.

Your emergency survival kit should always have some basic first aid elements, as well as any medicines you or a family member may need. Besides major disasters, there are a wide range of situations where having things like bandages, antiseptic, and even pain killers, could really come in handy. If there are any medications that someone depends on to manage a health condition, it is essential that they be able to continue taking that if there ever was a serious emergency. Yet again, the issue of portability should never be forgotten, nor should the reality that some situations could go on much longer than the amount of medicine you can carry.

There are various items that help us start fires more easily, which you very well might have to do in the aftermath of a major disaster. Generators are great tools to have whenever the power happens to go down, but these are sometimes not very suitable for transport, should you have to evacuate your home or town. Fortunately, technology has advanced whereby we can now use portable solar panel strips and pads which are typically strong enough to power anything from an electric lamp to a laptop computer. Given how dependent we now are on electric devices for communication and sharing information, having this type of portable solar technology could allow us to maintain these following a serious emergency.

In addition to your emergency and disaster survival kit, it is recommended that you develop and periodically go over emergency plans and strategies with your family. After all, how good will any survival kit be if the person using it does not have the information or knowledge of what it takes to survive in an emergency. As soon as possible, you should do some thorough research into various survival kit products, as well as various survival techniques and strategies. 2. I found this post by Anni Gindgren very informative. I hope people will start getting prepared. People have the tendency to think it will never happen to them. But it can, start to plan now. It's easy and not expensive, just start.

  3. I ENJOYED YOUR INFORMATIVE ARTICLE ESPECIALLY THE PART PERTAINING TO SOLAR POWER AND HAVING EMERGENCY PLANS IN PLACE FOR OUR FAMILIES. I INTEND TO LOOK INTO BOTH OF THESE IDEAS FURTHER. THANKS.
